The grotto style shade was handcrafted by the late Jose Produit who came up with the idea and the base was crafted by John Perry They called it seaform There are less than 200 in existence. They proved too expensive to produce. The shell shade was originally conceived in the early 1970s by Jose Aman Produit in Carmel, California. Jose (Joe-zay), of Martigny, Switzerland, who did extensive custom stained glass for many years out of over the rainbow, his Carmel California art studio. It was a natural step to create an all seashell lampshade and one that would lead Jose to enter into a short-lived partnership with John Perry Studios of Agoura, CA.
